Physical crosslinking involves subjecting the polymer to a high energy source such as high-energy electron or microwave radiation.

Cross-linked polyethylene insulation is made by chemical or physical methods to change the polyethylene molecule from linear molecular structure to three-dimensional network structure, from thermoplastic material to thermosetting material, and to increase the working temperature from 70℃ to 90℃, which significantly improves the material performance.
